Toyota Tundra 5.7L (2007-2019) and Sequoia 5.7L (2008-2011) Catalytic Converters Guide

Quick answer
The 5.7L V8 in the 2007-2019 Toyota Tundra and 2008-2011 Toyota Sequoia has two rows of cylinders, called bank 1 and bank 2, and each bank has its own catalytic converter. P0420 points at the bank 1 converter and P0430 at bank 2. If your truck is a late model, check the federal emission warranty first: it can still cover the converters on some 2018-2019 trucks.
Exact fit
| Years | Make | Model | Engine | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2007-2019 | Toyota | Tundra | 5.7L V8 | 2WD and 4WD |
| 2008-2011 | Toyota | Sequoia | 5.7L V8 | 2WD and 4WD |
5.7L V8 only. The Tundra and Sequoia were also sold with smaller engines; this pair does not fit them. Confirm Displacement (L): 5.7 in the free NHTSA VIN decoder before ordering.
Two converters, two codes

| Code | Means | Look at |
|---|---|---|
| P0420 | Bank 1 converter efficiency low | The converter on the cylinder 1 side |
| P0430 | Bank 2 converter efficiency low | The converter on the other side |
| Both | Both converters, or a shared cause | Misfires, fuel trim, oil burning, exhaust leaks |
If both codes show up together, suspect a shared cause before buying two converters. If only one shows, that side is the place to start. The AFECO 51294/51295 is sold as a left and right pair.
Still under warranty?
Federal rules cover catalytic converters for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date the truck was first delivered. Most trucks on this page are past that. A 2018 or 2019 Tundra with low miles may not be, depending on its delivery date. Check your warranty booklet or ask a Toyota dealer with your VIN before paying for converters.
Is there a recall?
We checked NHTSA's recall database for the 2007-2019 Tundra and 2008-2011 Sequoia. None of the safety recalls listed involve the exhaust system or the catalytic converters. NHTSA's system returned no complaint data for the 2010 Tundra, so check your own VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Before you replace them
- Read every code. Misfire codes on one bank can kill that bank's converter.
- Look for exhaust leaks at the manifolds and around the oxygen sensors on both sides.
- Check the downstream oxygen sensor on the side with the code.
- Watch for oil or coolant use. Both poison converters.
Fitting notes
These are direct-fit converters for the factory mounting points. The AFECO pair does not include hardware, so buy new gaskets, nuts and bolts for each flange before you start. Penetrating oil and patience help with old exhaust studs on trucks from salted roads.
