Hyundai Elantra Flex Pipe Guide: 2011-2016 Elantra 1.8L, 2013 Coupe and 2014-2016 Elantra GT 2.0L

Quick answer
The AFECO 52560 front flex pipe fits three specific Elantra combinations: the 2011-2016 Elantra 1.8L, the 2013 Elantra Coupe 1.8L and the 2014-2016 Elantra GT 2.0L. The engine has to match the body style: an Elantra sedan with a 2.0L engine is not on the list. A worn flex pipe usually shows up as a rumble on acceleration, a rattle or buzz near the front, and sometimes a check engine light.
Exact fit
| Years | Model | Engine | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2011-2016 | Elantra (sedan) | 1.8L 4-cylinder | Front-wheel drive |
| 2013 | Elantra Coupe | 1.8L 4-cylinder | Front-wheel drive |
| 2014-2016 | Elantra GT | 2.0L 4-cylinder | Front-wheel drive |
Match both the body and the engine. Only the combinations in this table are listed. Check Displacement (L) and the model name in the free NHTSA VIN decoder before you order.

Signs your Elantra's flex pipe is worn
- Louder exhaust, especially a rumble when you accelerate
- Buzzing or rattling from under the front floor
- Puffing or hissing near the front of the car
- Black soot around the braided section
- Exhaust smell in or around the car
- Check engine light, if the leak upsets the oxygen sensor readings
Is there a recall?
We checked NHTSA's recall database for the 2011-2016 Elantra and 2014-2016 Elantra GT. None of the safety recalls listed involve the exhaust system. NHTSA's system returned no complaint data for the 2013 Elantra Coupe, so check your own VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Before you buy
- Confirm the leak is at the flex pipe and not a gasket at either end. Soot at the flange points to the gasket.
- Check the engine mounts. A worn mount lets the engine move too far and wears flex pipes out early.
- Match the body style and engine to the table above.
Fitting notes
The AFECO 52560 is direct-fit and includes hardware. Use new gaskets at both flanges, do not twist the braided section while fitting it, and tighten the flange nuts evenly.
